Moose Gets Loose

Moose is our 8-month old red nose pit bull puppy. Despite what you've heard about the breed, he is extremely people- and animal-friendly. He doesn't discriminate; Moose loves everyone.

Case in point: JT and I take Moose for a 2-mile (or so) jog everyday when I get home from work. After our jog, we take Moose to Ross Park (the park in front of our home) so that he can be let off the leash to rampage freely through the grassy park. Now, in this park is a playground which Moose enjoys. On a separate park outing, my mother showed Moose how to slide. And, he's been sliding ever since (the neighborhood kids love it). Tonight was no exception. After he let loose a little bit, we decided to head home (with Moose still off the leash). JT and I are almost to our front door when we look down and discover that Moose is gone.

We start looking around for Moose, and we see him chasing his friend Tiger, a daschund, back toward Tiger's house. By the time JT and I run over to Tiger's house, we see neither dog. Therefore, we run around back to see if the chasing commenced there. All we find is a chihuahua from two houses back. Now, this dog is interested. All of a sudden, we hear some screaming and a little laughter near the front of the house. So...JT, the chihuahua from two houses back, and myself run into the living room of a stranger's house. Once inside, we find Moose chasing Tiger around the house followed by the chihuahua we also let inside. It was pandemonium. To top it all off, Moose finished his escapade by jumping onto this strange lady's couch and attempting to lick all of her children in the face.

Oddly enough, the incident ended well. No children, animals, or furniture were maimed. All was well, even if we were slightly embarrassed at our dog barging into someone's home uninvited.

We never know what will happen when Moose gets loose!
