Old Dream, New Adventure
All in the past week or so, I've created a new Facebook page; I've asked so many of you to "like" it and support me; and I've promoted my new website and asked you to shop for a good cause. The response to my new business venture has been positive to say the very least. But those of you who know me are probably wondering the following: Why Noonday Collection? Why now (with a 14-month-old child and another baby on the way)? Why take the leap?
(But...just in case you haven't "liked" my Facebook page:) https://www.facebook.com/WhitneyHornbuckleNoonday
I wanted to address all these questions and explain my connection to and newfound love for Noonday.
What is Noonday Collection?
Noonday Collection is a direct sales company whose mission is to create entrepreneurial opportunities for women in the US to earn an income while simultaneously creating pathways out of poverty for vulnerable men, women, and children in other countries. Noonday empowers women in the States to become ambassadors for those less fortunate. Ambassadors share the stories and sell hand-crafted, ethically-made goods of talented artisans from countries like Ecuador and Uganda. Selling these goods domestically helps to alleviate poverty by creating dignified jobs at fair wages, offering scholarship programs and no-interest loans, providing emergency assistance, and establishing long-term trade agreements. In addition, a portion of sales generated by Noonday goes to placing orphans in forever homes. Noonday is essentially about lending a helping hand rather than giving hand outs. I could go on and on about the amazing ways that Noonday helps and serves others, but don't take my word for it.

Why Noonday?
For those of you who don't know or forgot, I got my bachelor's degree in Apparel, Merchandising, Design & Production from Auburn University and interned in the fashion industry in New York City. Then, I received my M.Ed. in English/Language Arts from the University of South Alabama and taught English and writing for 3 years. While I loved my years of teaching, fashion was my first love. During my time in NYC, I became disenchanted with the industry. From my perspective, the world of fashion was shallow and self-centered; the industry seemed hollow and without a soul. It wasn't a lifestyle or career that I wanted to pursue any longer, so I took a different path.
Many people (especially my parents, who paid for my first round of college) have asked me through the years, "When are you going to use your fashion degree?" My answer is, "NOW!"
After being introduced to Noonday Collection by a close friend, my passion for fashion was rekindled. I was itching to be a part of a company that was fueled not only by fashion and beautiful designs but by a noteworthy cause or two. I'm so excited to put my knowledge of fashion (and degree) to use while serving as an advocate for men, women, and children in other countries through Noonday.
