For This Child We Prayed

I am ashamed to say that I am 21 weeks pregnant, and although I have Twitter-ed and Facebook-ed about this exciting news, I have yet to blog about it. Until now.

This is me being a good sport: I HATE "bump" pictures!
Two weeks ago, we had a gender revealing party at our house complete with friends, family, and a cake (from the Pastry Shop of course). While I am sure it's suspenseful and surprising to wait until the actual day of birth to discover the sex of the child, we just could not wait that long. Life is full of surprises, so I'm grateful to science and technology that our baby's gender didn't have to be one of them.

With that said...IT'S A BOY!!!

Making the cut...

The icing is blue! You know what that means!
In hindsight, I am so glad we decided to find out the gender and have the cake-cutting ceremony. Before I cut into the cake to discover whether the icing inside was blue or pink, I looked around and was overwhelmed. Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked into the faces of family and friends who surrounded JT and me (I'm even tearing up as I write this post!). I know that I am blessed beyond measure, but in that moment, I felt especially blessed by God. Our baby boy is already loved and prayed for by so many, and he is not even here yet! I cannot imagine what it will be like when he's finally here. Well, yes I can, he will be spoiled rotten like I was. It comes with the territory of being the first grandchild.

Family & friends at the Gender-Reveal party
Already, family members are fighting over who will get to stay with me and the baby when we arrive home from the hospital. Some have begun purchasing clothes, accessories, and toys. They are planning to make him "tough" and "sporty." JT wants to sign our unborn baby up for tee ball. The madness has truly begun.

Embarking on "2nd Motherhood"

Happy about a boy, but she really wanted to buy some tutus!
Speaking of madness, my mom has entered a stage I'm calling "second motherhood." She has hired someone to repaint the upstairs of her house; she is getting new carpet installed; and she is getting old furniture refinished as well as purchasing new pieces of furniture. Why is she doing these things you might ask? For her baby room, of course! Her (and my Dad's) excitement over their first grandchild makes me even more excited for him to get here.

Soon-to-be parents! (Thank you for not "rubbing" my belly in this photo, JT.)
By the way, the anticipated date of his arrival is January 27th, 2013. And, as far as we are all concerned, he cannot get here soon enough!
